Educational requirements:
- Mechanical training, previous work experience in a technical field
- Relevant maritime experience
Competence requirements:
- Practical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic equipment as well as troubleshooting of electrical equipment
- Ability to learn quickly and operate without supervision
- Fluent in English
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a TWIC and MMC
- Ability to pass a drug test
Work tasks, with responsibility for:
- Conduct maintenance of the vessel systems including engines, pumps, electrical, sanitary and other technical equipment
- Oversee vendor or crew maintenance and repair tasks
- Support the VSI that vessels are operated according to Class, Statutory and National rules & regulations
- Ensure the safety of the vessel and the reliability of the technical system when planning and conducting maintenance work
- Assist in handling the vessel’s preventative maintenance system (PMS)
- Perform technical inspections
- Follow routines and requirements in company management system
- Provide input for the vessels five-year maintenance plans
- Participate and represent the company during shipyard stays
- Manage vessel repairs in accordance with warranties and OEM’s guidance
- Responsible for spare parts inventory in the warehouse
- Coordinate deliveries to and from warehouse
- Keep warehouse and storage areas clean and tidy
- Assist in vehicle fleet maintenance
- Ability to travel as needed to various ports, warehouses, suppliers
- Adapt PMS according to vessel equipment, monitor procedures for improvement
- Coordinate and communicate operational and technical activities within the VMT and other relevant parties
- Critical member of the VMT, responding to vessel breakdowns and repairs with 24/7 availability
- Member of Company Emergency Response Team
Terms of employment
- Full-time, 6-month probationary period.
- Location: North Kingstown, RI. Remote location within the East Coast or Gulf area might be considered.
- Availability to support 24/7 vessel operations. Generally flexible M-F work hours, with the expectation of attending regular meetings and being available throughout the day.
