Educational requirements:
- Marine Engineering or Maritime Academy or similar, preferably bachelor’s level.
Competence requirements:
- Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and various shipboard systems.
- Excellent decision making and problem- solving skills.
- Excellent people skills and ability to adapt to different situations.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Good knowledge of budget planning and procurement.
- Local knowledge of marine suppliers, shipyards, and repair facilities.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Responsibility
Technical management of vessels:
- Ensure that vessels are operated according to Class, Statutory and National rules & regulations.
- Analyse vessel performance, incl. the effectiveness of the PMS, and implement improvement measures when required.
- Perform technical inspections.
- Ensure efficient management of vessel operations, maintenance, repair and dry-docking within budget.
- Develop and implement routines and requirements in company management system.
- Adapt PMS according to vessel equipment.
- Research and acquire vendor agreements to technically support vessel operations.
- Manage vessel repairs in accordance with warranties and OEM’s guidance.
- Coordinate and communicate operational and technical activities within the VMT and other relevant parties.
- Member of Company Emergency Response Team
- Monitor and support new-build projects, working closely with the European team to ensure on-time delivery and acceptance.
Terms of employment
- Full-time, 6-month probationary period.
- Location: North Kingstown, RI area.
- Availability to support 24/7 vessel operations. Travel required, as needed, to complete training and shipyard/vessel visits.
- Will spend time at Northern Offshore Services’ office in Gothenburg, Swedento train with Technical Department and VMTs.
